Production Blog: The Beginning

 Filming Blog


We started to film on November 20th, and all of our group were here to help film. The place we filmed at was near Ethan's house on the streets. We went here first because for the first 3 scenes, it mostly consists entirely of walking between 2 people. Our costumes will be dark clothing consisting of long pants, and a jacket with a hoodie. Sebastian, Jason, Ethan, and I were all in the music video with me and Jason being the main characters and Sebastian and Ethan being background characters. In the first scene, it will start with a cinematic view of the city, which will be locations such as the cars driving on the road, a view of the lake nearby making it look like a river, or nature found nearby. The second scene will switch from cinematic views to the story portion of the video. This scene follows me walking on the streets, strutting like a gentleman carrying a briefcase that Sebastian supplied him with. The camera will follow him around with the music, then it will cut to the 3rd scene showing me that was hiding behind the corner start to follow him. Everything was done correctly and this took only about an hour to make. If anything, it was hard acting as someone who is sad and emo for me, and coming out of the corner in a mysterious way proved challenging. Both Sebastian and Ethan served as the camera man and none of them had problems with shakiness. I was surprised to see how Ethan's camera quality was actually perfect.


Editing Blog


Jason was the one who edited what we had as a video so far. He first made it start off with fade in from black and white into color. All the scenes we filmed of just nature were seen for around a second and a half for each location. They were seen being jump cutted between each other. Once the color completely fades in the first scene will be over and the next scene will begin. This scene will automatically cut to Sebastian walking with his briefcase to his workplace. We thought making it a panning shot of Sebastian walking. We debated back and forth about whether we should make Sebastian walk through different places to show that he was making progress with his walk but we ultimately decided not to. We then showed the third scene of an over the shoulder shot with me behind a corner stalking sebastian for the potential robbing. All the scenes were cut to match the music and to make enough time for all the other scenes.

Final Task

 This video took a lot out of my group. There was so much that we had to do and so many problems occured that there was nothing we could do for some of them. Even with all those issues, I honestly think that this is the best video we made yet. Although I can see the plot issues and mistakes we made, this video is the child of our hard work. This may not be the best there is, but I am proud of this video. So I think that to the viewer, instead of watching the video to judge, watch the video to enjoy. So thank you to all who helped us. Thank you group mates who I couldn't have done this without. And thank you, for enjoying the show.

Storyboard

 September 27th          Chad Johnson Our group that consists of Jason, Sebastian, and I will feature the Nintendo Switch and all its features. Now our commercial will start with the iconic nintendo switch intro. This is found on all of nintendo switch's commercial intros. It lasts around 2 seconds so this will not take up any filming time that we need. The next panel is where we look at the nintendo switch game menu. This menu will have to showcase to the viewer what the games you can play. In this scene, we will also be entering a game and showing small gameplay. The third scene will show us playing a game together with the screen. This scene is meant to showcase how everyone can play together at the same time. This scene can also show a game being played and what to do which is promoting both the console and the game. The Final Blog

 In our group consisting of Chad, Jason, and Sebastian, we'd say we did a great job. We have many scenes which has deviated from the original storyboard. The thing is, we created new ideas mid filming, which cause us to make a better commercial than planned. Next we have the filming, with only 2 real shots and the rest being in-game shots. These in-game shots combined with the perfect editing Jason did for each made this video great. The editing had clean transitions, music syncs, and much more than can appeal to all audiences. It almost seemed like a compilation of clips with an actual trailer to back it up. The first clips show Sebastian and Chad sitting next to each other playing their switches. This is the start of the story, as they're both playing around having a good time. The final scenes are with the Nintendo Switch being used, then put away for the day.
