This way if we accidentally whack each other, the impact wouldn't hurt anybody as badly. Another solution that we considered was attacking with the swords very slowly, then editing the footage to make it look faster. This way, there would be no way to injure anybody while swing the swords. In order to make sure we don't hit anybody else who are bystanders, we plan to record secluded from others so they couldn't be in the background or get caught in an accident. In the worse case scenario, we will place 2 of our phones down in a secure place to be ready to call the police in case someone gets hurt. Schedule 3/4-3/6: We plan to film t

Genre Decision Blog

Image
Our group decided to do the thriller genre for our short film. We came to this decision because we looked at many of our favorite films. The thing we found in common was the genre thriller, and the elements of emotions it gives off. The ability to give the audience many emotions in the sitting of one film is admirable by our group and what we want to recreate. Another element that we admired was the suspense that it builds overtime. This leaves a feeling of mystery and uncertainty for the viewer to be astonished when the truth comes out. For our opening sequence, we will open up within the dead of night. While two brothers are sleeping, there's an assassin looking to kill one of the brothers. The assassin gets inside the house and kills one of the brothers offscreen, then leave a card threatening the brother. Once the other brother wakes up from the other brother's cry, he will be shocked and emotional. Then he will read the left behind card and make up his mind to get revenge

Genre Research: Thriller

The thriller Genre is typically exiting and consist of crime. There seems to be a lot of suspense present in this genre. Think of a movie like the quiet place. The audience is immersed in a movie that has no character conversation. Almost the whole movie is complete silence. In thriller movies, there is a lot of close up shots because they add to suspense. Just like in horror movies, there can be a lot of high pitch instruments playing as the background music/overlay. There can be situations like having to solve a murder or finding out who is the bad guy. Like all other genres, thriller can be very specific. There is a lot of types of action, horror, and romance movies. There are many different types of situations that fit into the thriller genre. I like to think of thriller as a more suspenseful version of horror. Moods can change the feeling in thriller movies by making something feel very important. Surprise fits into the genre because of the thought of not knowing something would

Our Pitch

Image
For our first pitch, there's someone that is taken hostage, and it's up to their friends in order to save them. This first pitch is great because it can be maneuvered in many different directions. We could change it to have a plot twist at the end or show that the one who was kidnapped was actually the bad guy. Our group thought that this type of pitch could have the same concept, but change the climax and falling point. We also have doubts about this pitch because this seems like a overused movie topic and probably couldn't be the main subject in the movie. In many movies, a kidnapping is a major plot point but not what the movie is mainly about.  For our second pitch, 4 friends would go and play in the woods and encounter a monster or a beast in the dark. Our team likes this pitch because this makes the world seem mysterious, as if we don't know everything that lurks beyond our view. We even have the option at filming at night to make it extra scary.
