The Final Blog

In our group consisting of Chad, Jason, and Sebastian, we'd say we did a great job. We have many scenes which has deviated from the original storyboard. The thing is, we created new ideas mid filming, which cause us to make a better commercial than planned. Next we have the filming, with only 2 real shots and the rest being in-game shots. These in-game shots combined with the perfect editing Jason did for each made this video great. The editing had clean transitions, music syncs, and much more than can appeal to all audiences. It almost seemed like a compilation of clips with an actual trailer to back it up. The first clips show Sebastian and Chad sitting next to each other playing their switches. This is the start of the story, as they're both playing around having a good time. The final scenes are with the Nintendo Switch being used, then put away for the day. This shows that the whole day was spent playing video games and the day finally ended with putting it away. As we pu...

Editing Part 2

Image
Today, we did not accomplish much for our commercial. Since we already had most of the video done already, we decided to finish the video. We had the scene where it shows two people playing and it cuts to a game clip. We debated for days what should be after this clip and we finally decided. We decided to use a breath of the wild clip to use as the outro. Then we put the Nintendo screen in the end of the video. As this screen is up, the music will slowly fade out then the video ends. We wanted an actual outro with the two friends eventually walking off away together. But since we had so little time, we couldn't add it in. Our next main concern is whether or not we were even allowed to add game clips. When Chad saw other peoples videos, he noticed that they were all videos about the shots we learned in class. This got him thinking whether they did the right thing or not. But we all knew that it was too late to go back to restart. If there was a rubric or guide telling us what we ca...

Editing Day 1

Image
To start our editing process we all first needed an editing platform. We decided between mobile or PC editing. For the sake of convenience and accessibility we chose mobile editing. With the clips from our film we created an intro where the camera pans over to both Chad and Sabastian playing verses each other on their Nintendo Switch. I added gameplay and different scenes to advertise Nintendo the different types of gameplay each game has to serve. The intro used was the iconic Nintendo switch intro along with the snap effect. As short as the intro may have seem we ended up trimming a piece out to reserve time for the rest of our shots and gameplay clips. We continued to turn gameplay into clips to serve for our representation of Nintendo games in our commercial. Our music selection came from an iconic character known as "Kirby" which is known as one of the main representatives of Nintendo games asides from Super Mario Bros. We had all agreed in selecting this song as we bel...

Production Day 2

Image
Today on October 5th, we were going to record our next scene for our commercial. So when we were allowed to leave, we went back to the cafeteria upstairs to keep location the same. So then we realized a problem, that Jason's switch didn't work and Sebastian's and my switch were dead. So we had to let the switch charge for a period of time. Once they were okay, we got on the floor and pretended to play something. This showcased some real life co-op play. This scene was a paning shot to show our consoles communicating with each other. This teamwork can show how we're playing the game together, which is shown in the next scene. Where we played the smash clip, we edited it to make it shorter. We now realized what a burden this 30 second time limit was. We had so many ideas but we had to cut them due to time. I then had an idea for our next scene. I figured we could showcase the single player part of the switch. So I took 20 minutes getting the next scene ready. I had the i...

Production Day 1

Image
On Wednesday September 29th, we went out to film for the first time. Our group walked around the school to try to find a place. Then we decided on going to the cafeteria. To make sure no one else could steal our idea, we went upstairs to record. Since we forgot some items, we decided to skip the scenes that needed them and move onto a simple game showcase screen. So while we were upstairs, we brought out the switch and played Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Our plan was to make an iconic battle between Bowser and Mario with Mario being the victor. After the match, we would then shake hands, to show our sportsmanship in the game. The first take went smoothly until we messed up the handshake. Since we were forced to make another take, I proposed the idea about we screen record the switch because it was too far away to see the game. So we took many other takes after that and we finally got everything perfectly. So then when I tried to take the video, the software wouldn't allow it. So we ...

Storyboard

September 27th          Chad Johnson Our group that consists of Jason, Sebastian, and I will feature the Nintendo Switch and all its features. Now our commercial will start with the iconic nintendo switch intro. This is found on all of nintendo switch's commercial intros. It lasts around 2 seconds so this will not take up any filming time that we need. The next panel is where we look at the nintendo switch game menu. This menu will have to showcase to the viewer what the games you can play. In this scene, we will also be entering a game and showing small gameplay. The third scene will show us playing a game together with the screen. This scene is meant to showcase how everyone can play together at the same time. This scene can also show a game being played and what to do which is promoting both the console and the game. The fourth scene will showcase what the game will look like when the console is in handheld mode. This mode is when the controllers are in...
